We were so blessed to get a visit from the young lady who inspired this entire domestic violence month. Thank you for being so brave and strong and sharing your story with us.

We would like to give a huge thank you to Warden Kevin Genovese, Chief Jackie Johnson and Officer Phyllis Coby of North West Correcntional Complex for coming and speaking with our students today. We appreciate you for volunteering your time and your words of encouragement!

We want to send a huge thank you to Ms. Queenie Jordan for stoping by and speaking to our students about mental health and it’s importance. Also, a big thank you to our very own Shakira Smith for feeling compelled to share her story with our students today. There was hardly a dry eye in the building!

What happens when it’s too wet for your field trip? We spend the day doing more research and making games out of our research! Our farm trip was postponed until Monday so we looked up different facts about farms and farming and made a trivia game out of it. The winner of the game got 5 seconds in the snack room to grab whatever they could, the kids loved it!

Happy Monday! April is filled with testing for our students so each week we’ll be learning about different types of learning. Today was all about “visual learning”. The exercise the students competed today was called “Photo Paragraph” each student had to form a paragraph using pictures from magazines.

Today was one of those days that makes your heart smile. Today is typically community service day for our high school students, and instead of going out to do a good deed, we decided to stay in. Junior star student Kiaran Gross asked if they could stay in and make cards for residents at the nursing home who could not have visitors due to Covid-19. The simple fact that her mind would go there says a lot about how she’s being raised at home, what she’s been taught here, and what a big heart she has.
